India Fashion Week Australia took place in Melbourne recently and displayed a blend of Indian, South East Asian and Australian aesthetics through a series of fashion looks.
.Organised by Meilleur Events, the transnational IFWA 2023was held at Marvel Stadium, Docklands on September 23. The event spotlighted a series of garments created by upcoming Indian, Australian and South East Asian designers. Participating designers included Pritam Nayak – India; Khushi Chauhan – India and Ivan Tran – Vietnam.
Melbourne based brands Golden Threadzs by Sneha K Vakil, Glimpse of Boho by Sahaf Khalid and SAWA & CO showcased a selection of creative garments that reflected the rich fashion heritage of India.
Among participants of IFWA were students from LCL Art & Design Academy in Melbourne with the Emerging Designer Award won by Hannah Maybury, a student of Fashion & Costume Design. As part of her prize she will travel to India next year to showcase her designs.
As a cross-cultural event, India Fashion Week Australia 2023 demonstrated the blending of Indian and Australian aesthetics though innovative garment designs and collaborations that transcend geographical borders. By taking part in the annual fashion and cultural fusion event designers receive domestic and international exposure.
